Tall Tales

tree twined dance

What story, these trees?

What tales to tell…

Bent from the wind, or a child’s pull?

Scarred from machinery, or natural force?

Witness to campouts and bonfires and fishing trophies;

children’s play and adult conversation, loud music and sounds of sleep;

home to sparrows, perch of eagles, scout place for hawks;

lodging for a multitude of insects,

shade relief in the heat of the summer,

constant reminder of seasons.

Do you ponder life sans trees?
